Cadillac Zack, who wears a lot of hats on behalf of Elmore James Jr., was recently interviewed by Mark Grove of the Canadian Guitar Player blog. Zack talks mostly about his gear in this article. The author also gives a little CZ history.

I've had the pleasure of knowing Zack for several years. He's a good friend, a fantastic performer, and dedicated guardian and curator of the blues. The genre owes him a great debt.

Zack, who manages and books Elmo through the American Blues Legends company, produced and played on Elmo's latest CD, Daddy Gave Me the Blues.

Leo Schumaker, a board member of the Santa Barbara Blues Society, is making a full-length audio interview with Elmore James Jr. available on his Bluesland website and via iTunes podcast.

The interview was conducted shortly before Elmo's Sep. 13 2008 gig, sponsored by the Santa Barbara Blues Society.

Casual and conversational, you'll hear Elmo tell stories of growing up in Mississippi; how his daddy, Elmore James, taught him the blues; moving to the big city of Chicago and meeting up with Willie Dixon; and lots more.

For the last couple of months, Elmo has been in California, touring with manager/producer/performer, Cadillac Zack. Reviews and responses have been very positive, and our man has been enjoying the scene out there.

There are still more dates coming up, so if you're on the West Coast, check out the schedule here to come out and see Elmo live.

We expect him to return to Chicago mid-October.
